INNERGROOVE - bringing the vibe

Born from the vibrant musical urban undercurrent of Manchester, INNERGROOVE emerged in 1997 as the creative vision of keyboardist, vocalist, producer, and musical architect Wayne Brown. What began as an experimental soul-jazz project quickly evolved into a powerhouse nine-piece collective, renowned for their seamless blend of soul, jazz-funk, and urban Manchester grit. From the outset, the band set themselves apart with their fluid musicianship and bold, groove-driven sound. Each member brings a unique palette of influences such as funk, fusion, contemporary soul, hip-hop, break-beat—creating a derivative, high-energy flow that has become their signature. 

The line up features exceptionally talented multi-instrumentalists, allowing the band to shift textures and dynamics effortlessly during their live performances. Their reputation for electric, immersive shows quickly made them a favourite on Manchester’s live circuit. Nowhere is this more evident than at the city’s legendary Band on the Wall, where they’ve held two well-loved residencies, consistently drawing in audiences who come for the musicianship, stay for the energy, and return for the community the band inspires. 

In recent years, the group has reformed in a new incarnation and channelled their collective creativity into the studio, completing three full studio albums at Manchester’s iconic Dead  Basics studios https://deadbasicstudios.com/ . These recordings showcase the evolution of their sound—richer, deeper, and more refined, yet still rooted in the raw spirit that defined their early days. 

The next chapter began with the release of their debut single, “I’ll Be There,” was released in January 2026. A sleek, soulful introduction to their upcoming recorded catalogue, the track captures everything the band represents: unity, groove, musicianship, and the unmistakable pulse of Manchester. Their second single is the title track to the first album called “Too Fast Too Loud” a catchy and melodic tune lyrically reflecting on societal movement.

 With decades of experience, an ever-growing fan base, and a renewed creative fire, INNERGROOVE continues to push the boundaries of modern soul and jazz-funk, proving that their journey, much like their sound, is only just beginning.
